Anax's Special Crossword for Crossword Unclued

I found a message from Anax in my mailbox this weekend, containing a delightful surprise: a crossword created especially for Crossword Unclued.

I'm thrilled to bits :) Sharing the crossword with you all. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

  8. I had the answer for a word from the definition but had difficulty in fitting it in. It was only much later that I realised that an old spelling for the familiar word is used. But Anax has taken care to ensure that the wordplay leads to the spelling variant quite clearly.

    I had earlier thought of it, but couldn't find the anno, but when I discovered a Nina, I feel this maybe right! Hints for the others, please!

    10a: 'waste' is the definition.
    11a: The answer is right there in the clue!
    12a: Double-definition, both British usage.
    24d: over = O.
